In the late 16th century, a trade ship filled with iron sank off Dalarö in the Stockholm archipelago.
Efforts are now underway to salvage the iron, aiming to increase knowledge about Swedish iron exports in the 1500s and uncover the ship's structure.
Discovered during a 2017 dive, the shipwreck contains over 100 barrels of osmund iron, a key Swedish export product from the Middle Ages to the 17th century.
On Friday, the first barrel was salvaged, marking the first complete find of its kind in Sweden.
Researchers hope to learn more about early Swedish iron production and its historical significance.
