Estonian authorities have made a significant discovery at the site of the M/S Estonia shipwreck, which sank in the Baltic Sea in 1994, claiming 852 lives.
During recent dives, a railing from the ship's bow ramp was found, a crucial piece in understanding the disaster.
This find helps dismiss theories that the railing was cut post-sinking to access the cargo deck.
Instead, it confirms that the railing broke off during the tragedy.
Despite Sweden declining to participate in the latest investigation, they have been involved in earlier stages and have received the findings.
The new evidence supports previous conclusions that the ship was not seaworthy due to issues with the bow visor, rather than sabotage or collision.
