A caregiver at a forensic psychiatric clinic in Växjö, Sweden, was stabbed in the neck by a patient on Friday.

The patient reportedly broke a plastic utensil and used it as a weapon.

Quick action by other staff members prevented further violence.

Region Kronoberg, which oversees the facility, has reported the incident to the police as an attempted murder and filed a workplace injury report.

Tina Fogelklou, the chief of forensic psychiatry, emphasized the seriousness of the situation and the importance of supporting affected staff members in the aftermath of such events.
