The ongoing blockade by the Swedish Nursing Association (Vårdförbundet) against overtime work and new hires has entered its fourth day, affecting 3,500 healthcare workers in Östergötland.

This move has raised concerns over potential impacts on healthcare availability in the region if it continues.

Healthcare director Jessica Frisk highlighted the need to prioritize patient safety and emergency services amidst this action.

However, the union criticizes the mandated emergency work despite the blockade, arguing it underscores the current reliance on overtime to maintain healthcare services.
