A 15-year-old girl who had been missing for several weeks in Piteå, Sweden, has been found alive.

The teenager disappeared on June 28, 2024, prompting an intensive search effort by local police.

Authorities had previously appealed to the public for help, releasing a description of the girl and her last known outfit.

The police's serious crimes unit handled the case, initially believing the girl had gone missing voluntarily.

After weeks of following up on tips and investigating persons and places of interest, the police announced on July 19 that the girl had been located safely.

The search has now been called off, bringing relief to the community.
