In Haparanda, Sweden, a court has sentenced a 70-year-old businessman and his accomplice, a man in his 40s, to significant prison terms for storing 11 tons of explosives without proper authorization.
Discovered in a raid last year, the cache included 6,849 kilos of dynamite, posing a massive risk of detonation that could have wreaked havoc over a vast area.
The Haparanda District Court found the storage methods and the risk of theft to be especially severe, leading to the judgment of five years for the elder and four years for the younger defendant.
This case marks a significant crackdown on illegal explosive storage in the region.
