A man in his 30s and a woman in her 35s were arrested at Stockholm's Central Station on Wednesday evening after police discovered a dangerous object in their possession.

According to reports, the couple was carrying a thermos bomb in a bag, along with narcotics and a knife.

The station was quickly evacuated and the area cordoned off.

Sources suggest the suspects were not planning to detonate the bomb there but were tasked with delivering it to a location in northern Sweden.

The pair, reportedly from Western Gästrikland, are now in custody and have been requested to be remanded on suspicion of crimes against the law on flammable and explosive goods and preparation for gross public destruction.
