Malmö's Graffiti Wall Sparks Eurovision Controversy

Published: 2024-05-09

In Malmö, a graffiti wall with pro-Palestinian messages has become the center of attention amid the Eurovision song contest, sparking controversy and a wave of new artists.

The city, having apologized for initially censoring the wall, now sees it as a canvas for expressions of protest against Israel's participation in the competition, amidst increasing criticism and planned demonstrations.

The transformation of the so-called Knarkrondellen into what some hope will be known as Gazarondellen marks a significant turn of events, reflecting broader concerns over the conflict in Gaza and Israel's role in it.

Up to 30,000 protesters are expected to gather in central Malmö to voice their opposition, with police bracing for significant disruptions.
