Thousands Protest Israel's Eurovision Participation in Malmö

Published: 2024-05-11

In Malmö, Sweden, approximately 8,000 individuals participated in a large pro-Palestinian protest against Israel's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, held at the Hyllie Arena.

The peaceful demonstration showcased a diverse crowd ranging from young children to the elderly, with music from drums and bagpipes accompanying the march.

Protestors voiced strong criticisms of Israel, branding it a "murderer" and a "terror state," alongside calls for a ceasefire.

Amid the demonstration, a woman, identified only as Lotta, garnered police attention for her sign demanding the release of hostages, which authorities deemed potentially provocative.

This incident highlighted the tensions surrounding the Eurovision event and the broader geopolitical conflicts at play.
