On Saturday evening, a freight train carrying ore derailed near Vassijaure, between Kiruna and Narvik, marking another incident on the Malmbanan route.

This accident occurred at the same location as a significant derailment in mid-December, which had previously halted train traffic.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the latest incident.

The route had only been reopened a few days ago with restrictions on speed and maximum load.

LKAB's recovery team is set to begin clearing the site following approval from the Swedish Transport Administration.
