Published: 2025-01-01

New Year’s Eve in Sweden was marked by chaos and violence, with police handling hundreds of incidents involving fireworks.

Several teenagers were injured, including a 14-year-old boy in Södertälje who suffered serious injuries and a boy in Gothenburg with an eye injury.

Police officers were also targeted, with rockets deliberately fired at them in Helsingborg and Ljungby.

In Linköping, a quick-thinking officer redirected a lit firework to prevent harm, escaping serious injury.

Other incidents included a man in Växjö threatening people with a weapon-like object and a woman in Varberg using a green laser on a crowd.

Authorities have reported numerous cases of reckless behavior, highlighting the dangers of improper firework use.
