A car plunged into the Stångån river in Linköping on Tuesday afternoon, leading to a significant rescue operation.
Four individuals, including two adults and two children, were in the vehicle when it entered the water.
Emergency services responded quickly, and all four were rescued, but a woman and one child sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Eyewitness Payam Namin, who was fishing nearby, jumped into the river to save one of the children, stating he acted without thinking.
The police are investigating the incident, but the cause of the accident remains unclear.
The rescue operation concluded with the retrieval of the car from the river later in the evening.
