Breakthrough in 5-Year-Old Eskilstuna Murder Case

Published: 2024-03-23

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with a murder that took place more than five years ago in Eskilstuna, Sweden, thanks to breakthroughs in DNA technology and crucial testimony from a so-called key witness.

The key witness, previously convicted for another murder, implicated the shooter in exchange for a seven-year reduction in his own sentence.

The accused's DNA was found on gloves used during the crime, although the 23-year-old denies any wrongdoing.

The key witness, significant in solving the case, was also a pivotal figure in a separate murder case in Stockholm, demonstrating the intertwining complexities of these criminal investigations.
