95,000 Stockholm Men Found Guilty of Sex Buying

Published: 2024-04-15

In a significant announcement by Operation Kvinnofrid, a collaboration among various authorities, it has been revealed that approximately 95,000 men residing in Stockholm County have committed the crime of purchasing sex.

This startling figure, based on research reports and studies from authorities, suggests that about one in ten men have engaged in this illegal activity.

In response, a campaign titled "Sluta köpa sex" (Stop Buying Sex) has been launched, aiming to address and reduce the demand for sexual services, thereby altering the situation for those living in prostitution.

The campaign also directly targets sex buyers, encouraging them to seek support from KAST (buyers of sexual services), which offers assistance to cease this practice.

According to Alexander Ojanne, Stockholm's social and safety commissioner, reducing the demand for sex buying is crucial for tackling this societal issue.
