Residents of Bollnäs and Freluga in Gävleborg County are advised to boil their water before consumption following a break-in at a local water reservoir.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning when intruders forced entry into the Helsingevatten water tower.
As a precaution, a public warning has been issued, and Bollnäs Hospital has activated its emergency protocol.
Police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the incident as sabotage.
The water company, Helsingevatten, is awaiting test results to determine if the water has been tampered with.
Meanwhile, the community is urged to follow the boiling advisory to ensure safety.
