In a shocking medical scandal at Akademiska Hospital in Uppsala, 33 women aged 38 to 85 have had their uteruses mistakenly removed due to incorrect cancer diagnoses.
The hospital's routine checks revealed that these women were wrongly diagnosed with conditions like endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia, a precursor to uterine cancer.
Among the affected is Anna Vesterberg, who underwent the unnecessary surgery just before her wedding, leading to significant physical and emotional distress.
The hospital is now implementing a new protocol where multiple doctors review cancer test results to prevent such errors.
A formal investigation, known as a lex Maria report, is being prepared to address this grave oversight.
