Unexpected Late Summer Heatwave Sweeps Sweden

Published: 2024-09-16

Sweden is experiencing an unexpected late summer heatwave, with temperatures soaring above the seasonal norm.

Meteorologists report that a high-pressure system is bringing warm air from the Atlantic and West Africa, causing temperatures to rise above 20 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country.

In southern regions like Götaland and eastern Svealand, temperatures could reach up to 24 degrees, while even northern areas along the Norrland coast might see temperatures around 20 degrees.

This warm spell is expected to last until the end of the week, offering a brief extension of summer before cooler, more unstable weather returns.

Residents are advised to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, as a significant drop in temperature is anticipated by the weekend.
