Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Airbase

Published: 2024-07-28

Ukrainian drones attacked a Russian airbase on the Kola Peninsula, near the Finnish border, on July 27, 2024. This strike, reported by Kyiv Independent, targeted three Russian military sites, including Olenya airbase, which is less than 200 kilometers from Finland and about 400 kilometers from Sweden.

A Russian Tu-22M strategic bomber was reportedly damaged in the attack.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb reassured the public that there is no cause for concern in Finland, stating that the situation is under control and that they are in close contact with Sweden regarding security measures.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need to monitor developments closely due to the ongoing conflict in the region.

Both leaders affirmed their commitment to maintaining security in their countries amidst the escalating tensions.
