In June last year, a tragic incident on Djurgården saw five horses breaking loose and causing chaos, leading to several people being injured.
Among the affected, 70-year-old Naum Norman succumbed to his injuries six months later.
A 55-year-old man, identified as a horse entrepreneur from Piteå, is now standing trial, facing charges including gross negligence leading to death.
The prosecution argues that the defendant failed to ensure the horses couldn't escape into a public area, a negligence that resulted in life-threatening injuries.
The case has sparked a call for clearer legislation on animal owner responsibilities, with the victim's widow, Barbara Norman, advocating for change.
