Swedish Teens Held for Copenhagen Explosions

Published: 2024-10-03

Two Swedish teenagers, aged 16 and 19, have been detained in connection with explosions near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen.

The incidents occurred on Wednesday night, and the suspects were apprehended on a train at Copenhagen's central station.

They are accused of possessing and transporting five hand grenades, two of which were detonated on a rooftop near the embassy.

The prosecutor, Søren Harbo, indicated that the teenagers did not act alone, and the investigation will explore whether the motive was a terrorist attack.

Although no one was injured, the explosions caused damage to a nearby building.

The police are also investigating potential links to a shooting at the Israeli embassy in Stockholm and possible connections to the Foxtrot network.

The Swedish government is closely monitoring the situation, emphasizing the heightened security concerns and rising antisemitism since October 7.
