In a comprehensive new assessment by Swedish police, approximately 62,000 individuals are connected to criminal networks within the country, with 14,000 identified as active gang criminals.
This alarming figure, which suggests a significant increase from previous estimates, highlights the growing challenge of gang-related violence, including shootings and bombings, described by officials as just "the tip of the iceberg.
" Among these, 2,000 are considered strategic leaders, orchestrating the criminal activities, further emphasizing the organized and widespread nature of gang criminality in Sweden.
The assessment also points out the involvement of individuals under 18 years and the reliance on international connections for orchestrating crimes, indicating a sophisticated and deeply rooted problem that poses a serious threat to public safety and security.
