A Swedish man in his 40s tragically lost his life during an orienteering competition in Norway.
The accident occurred on Friday evening at Branten in Narvik, near the Swedish-Norwegian border.
The man reportedly fell several tens of meters from a steep mountain area, where visibility was poor due to fog.
Norwegian police received the alert at 20:20, and upon arrival, confirmed the man's death.
The competition had started in Sweden and crossed into Norway, and it remains unclear whether the participants had navigated incorrectly or if the route was intended to enter Norwegian territory.
The man's family has been notified, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
Rescue efforts involved both Norwegian and Swedish personnel, with helicopters and ground teams responding to the scene.
