Swedish Extremists' Violent Plots Exposed

Published: 2024-08-27

The Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR), a far-right extremist group in Sweden, has been exposed for discussing violent acts in secret online chats.

Aftonbladet, a Swedish newspaper, revealed that members of NMR have been plotting against Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, with some members expressing willingness to commit murder if there are no witnesses.

This revelation comes after Strömmer's comments on restricting the freedom of associations that engage in criminal activities.

The chats, which include over a thousand messages, also contain threats against other prominent Swedish politicians.

Despite the alarming nature of these discussions, legal experts suggest that much of the content may not be prosecutable under current laws.

The exposure highlights ongoing tensions within NMR between those advocating for violent revolution and those seeking broader political support.

Swedish authorities continue to monitor and address threats from violent extremism across the political spectrum.
