A recent survey by DN/Ipsos reveals that a majority of Swedes support a ban on begging, with 54% in favor.
This marks a decrease from 2017, when 60% supported the proposal.
The Swedish government is currently investigating the feasibility of such a ban, highlighting concerns about the living conditions of those who beg and potential links to organized crime and human trafficking.
Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer emphasizes the need to assess whether current regulations are effective or if expanded measures are necessary.
The investigation will consider the possibility of implementing a national ban and improving local regulations to address the issue.
