Sweden is witnessing a controversial trophy hunt of lynxes, a species both beloved and protected in the country.
Despite 97% of Swedes appreciating the presence of lynxes, many are unaware that they are being hunted under the guise of licensure.
This year, over 6,000 hunters, including 350 from abroad, have registered for the hunt, which often ends with the animals being skinned for trophies.
The hunt has sparked debate, with critics arguing it threatens the lynx population, which saw over 200 individuals, including juveniles, killed last year.
Environmentalists are calling for an end to the trophy hunt, urging for more support for preventative measures against livestock predation rather than lethal control.
