Sweden Welcomes Early Summer Heatwave

Published: 2024-05-11

Sweden is on the brink of experiencing its first wave of pre-summer warmth, with meteorologists predicting temperatures to soar to 20-25 degrees Celsius even in the northern parts of the country.

The sudden shift in weather, attributed to a comprehensive low pressure system moving from the US East Coast towards Iceland and a growing high pressure from the British Isles, promises sunny days ahead after a colder start to May.

In addition to the warmth, the snow melting in the north might lead to high water flows, raising concerns about potential flooding similar to last year's events in Tornedalen.

However, there's a note of caution as meteorologists warn that a weather setback, especially in the northern regions, cannot be entirely ruled out.
