Following Sweden's recent incorporation into NATO, a ceremonial flag raising at I21 in Sollefteå marked the country's membership in the defense alliance.
Carin Jämtin, the Governor of Västernorrland and the highest responsible for civil defense in the region, emphasized that while the military aspects of Sweden's total defense are directly influenced by NATO membership, the civil defense sector is less affected.
Instead, global security concerns play a more significant role in shaping civil defense strategies.
Jämtin highlighted the extensive efforts required to rebuild Sweden's civil defense capabilities, dismantled in the past, and stressed the importance of involving both citizens and the local business community in these endeavors.
