The number of blood donors in Sweden has dropped by 14% in the past year, according to the Swedish Blood Alliance.
Meanwhile, the National Board of Health and Welfare warns that the country needs to double its blood donor base to ensure preparedness for emergencies.
Currently, only 3% of Swedes donate blood, despite 64% saying they are willing to.
Roughly 100,000 patients need blood annually, with one bag of blood required every minute.
With blood storage limited to six weeks, regular donations are crucial.
