The Swedish government, in collaboration with the Sweden Democrats, has initiated an investigation into a potential national ban on begging.
This move, part of the Tidö Agreement, aims to address issues such as criminal exploitation of beggars and their harsh living conditions.
However, the proposal faces opposition from within the Liberal Party, with key members like Anna Starbrink and Joar Forssell expressing their disapproval, labeling the ban as symbolic politics.
The investigation is set to conclude by June 2025, but analysts suggest that a ban may not be implemented within the current mandate period due to internal disagreements.
