Sweden Braces for Week of Weather Chaos: SMHI

Published: 2024-01-21

Sweden's weather agency, SMHI, has issued multiple yellow warnings for severe weather conditions across the country, predicting a week of weather chaos.

The warnings include strong winds, floods, and icy roads, with an orange warning in place for snowfall and wind in the Umeå region.

The turbulent weather is expected to continue throughout the week, with snow in the north and strong winds along the west coast.

Commuters are advised to exercise caution, particularly on icy roads.

In addition, the impact of a major storm over the British Isles and Norway is expected to be felt in Sweden, bringing strong west winds and potential ice storms.

SMHI has also issued a yellow warning for sudden ice slicks across northern Götaland, Svealand, and southernmost Norrland.
