Stockholm's S\u00e4tra district faced a security scare today as a suspected dangerous object, reportedly a hand grenade, was discovered on the tracks at the S\u00e4tra torg subway station.
Authorities promptly evacuated the station and the surrounding shopping area, with police cordoning off the center of S\u00e4tra.
The National Bomb Squad has been deployed to assess the situation.
Subway traffic between Sk\u00e4rholmen and Axelsberg has been halted as a precaution, with replacement buses arranged for affected commuters.
The incident was first reported by a traveler on the red line of the subway, who noticed the suspicious object beneath the platform.
Law enforcement officials, including police spokesperson Rebecca Landberg, have confirmed that the area has been secured and there is no immediate threat to the public.
