After intense negotiations, the Swedish municipal workers' union, Kommunal, has successfully reached an agreement with employers, averting a planned strike.
The strike would have had significant impacts across Uppsala County, affecting services such as healthcare, education, and public transportation by halting the delivery of medications, textiles, and consumables.
Local officials, including Björn Karnell, a service manager in the region, and Pia Söderman, Kommunal's chair in Uppsala, expressed relief at the resolution.
The strike would have primarily impacted cleaning and catering services within municipal operations across multiple towns, including Uppsala, Enköping, Håbo, Heby, Östhammar, and Tierp, as well as facilities operated by Region Uppsala.
