Storm Gusts Wreak Havoc in Western Sweden

Published: 2024-02-23

Western Sweden has been battered by strong winds, causing widespread disruptions.

The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) issued yellow warnings for storm gusts across the region, escalating to an orange warning along the Skagerrak coast due to winds reaching speeds of 22-28 meters per second.

The adverse weather has led to fallen trees, detached roofs, and a significant impact on transportation, with several train services canceled and delays at Gothenburg's central station due to a partial roof collapse and power outage.

Emergency services have responded to over 150 incidents, including flying debris, urging residents to stay indoors.

Despite the chaos, no injuries have been reported thus far.
