In a significant move to bolster the healthcare sector, the Swedish government, in collaboration with the Sweden Democrats, has announced an additional funding of six billion kronor to the regions in the spring amending budget.
This financial boost aims to prevent layoffs and dismissals amidst rising costs due to inflation, particularly in pension expenses.
The funding, equating to the employment of 7,000 nurses, will be distributed as general government grants, leaving it to the discretion of the regions on how to utilize the funds effectively.
Johan Pehrson (L) highlighted the need for efficient use of these funds, mentioning the establishment of a new function to monitor the regions' use of resources.
The complete spring budget will be revealed on April 15.
