A significant earthquake struck near Bureå, south of Skellefteå in Västerbotten, Sweden, on Saturday morning, measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale.
The tremors were felt across a wide area, including Umeå, Vindeln, and Boliden.
Björn Lund, a seismologist at Uppsala University, indicated that this magnitude is considered relatively large for Sweden, noting that such earthquakes occur about once a year in the region.
The affected area is part of an active fault zone, though Lund mentioned the damage risk from this quake is minimal, with the possibility of minor aftershocks felt by those in the immediate vicinity.
