A severe snowstorm has gripped northern Sweden, leaving thousands without power and causing widespread disruption.
In Västerbotten, over 6,000 households were initially affected by power outages, with around 3,000 still without electricity as of Friday morning.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued an orange warning for heavy snow and strong winds in Skellefteå and Robertsfors, while a yellow warning covers the Västerbotten coast.
The storm has led to hazardous road conditions, resulting in numerous traffic accidents and the cancellation of school transport in Skellefteå.
Emergency services have deployed additional bandwagons to assist in critical situations.
Meanwhile, public transport, including trains and buses, faces significant delays and cancellations.
As the storm continues, SMHI warns of further snowfalls moving into southern regions like Skåne and Blekinge, where a yellow warning is also in place.
Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and exercise caution when traveling.
