A serious traffic accident occurred on Highway 61 near Charlottenberg, in Eda municipality, when two cars collided head-on early Monday morning.
According to police spokesperson Sophia Jagelid, the collision, which happened during an overtaking maneuver, involved a third car, though the driver of this vehicle escaped unscathed.
Both drivers of the colliding vehicles were rushed to the hospital with serious, albeit non-life-threatening injuries, one of whom had to be extricated from the wreckage.
The accident prompted the temporary closure of the highway in both directions, with emergency services including police, ambulance, and rescue teams responding to the scene.
The road was expected to remain closed for several hours as the rescue operation continued.
