Swedish Television (SVT) has uncovered a fueling operation to Russia's "shadow fleet" from an oil tanker just miles off the coast of Gotland.
The operation, involving over 500 ships since 2022, is linked to a Russian oligarch and a Latvian oil magnate, who have been previously accused of trading oil with Belarus under Aleksandr Lukashenko's regime.
The Latvian company Fastbunkering, reportedly owned by Aleksej Tjulets and Sergej Pasters, is under investigation by several authorities for potentially circumventing sanctions on Russian oil products.
Estonian security police KAPO recently targeted the parent company, NT Bunkering, for suspected sanction violations.
Swedish and Latvian authorities are now probing into the operations to halt the illicit trade.
