The Swedish Security Service (Säpo) has uncovered evidence of Russian IP addresses accessing an internet forum where detailed information about Sweden's secret military installations was shared.

This activity, which increased notably a year before Säpo's crackdown, is seen as potential preparation for military strikes against Sweden, according to senior prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist.

The forum contained precise coordinates and information on alarm and surveillance systems, suggesting an effort akin to wartime planning.

Although twelve individuals have been convicted for unauthorized handling of secret information, they were not accused of espionage, lacking intent to forward the data to a foreign power.

However, the involvement of Russian interests marks a significant escalation in the threat to Swedish national security.
