In a shocking incident on Christmas Day 2023, Ica Haga, a grocery store in Västerås, was completely destroyed by a fire, allegedly set by a 31-year-old woman using a flammable spray from a dry shampoo bottle.
The rapid spread of the fire, which became uncontrollable within 19 minutes, was attributed to multiple ignition points throughout the store.
Prosecutors have charged the woman with aggravated arson, among other offenses, after she reportedly aimed the flammable spray at individuals outside the store.
A forensic psychiatric report suggests the suspect was suffering from a severe mental disorder at the time of the incident.
The case, marked by the swift and devastating nature of the blaze, is set for trial at the end of April.
