Prince Calls for Action on Children's Health Inequities

Published: 2024-04-14

In a recent report by Generation Pep, it was revealed that children from low-income families in Sweden are engaging in insufficient physical activity and have poorer diets compared to their peers from more affluent backgrounds.

Highlighting the urgent need for action, Prince Daniel, in a speech at the Royal Institute of Technology, emphasized the importance of preventive measures for children's health.

He argued that allowing children to grow into healthy adults would prevent them from becoming burdens on the healthcare system.

Generation Pep's operational manager, Carolina Klüft, supported this by pointing out that all children have the right to an active and healthy life, as mandated by the Children's Convention.

The widening health disparities among Swedish children are unacceptable, and the nation stands to lose vital strength for the future if these issues are not addressed.
