A police officer from Gothenburg is facing charges of misconduct after allegedly advising his partner to flee the scene of a suspected drunk driving incident.

The incident occurred in May when a member of the public reported a woman driving erratically.

The woman, who admitted to drinking wine, was prevented from driving away by a bystander who applied the handbrake.

However, when police arrived, the woman had disappeared, and her partner, an off-duty police inspector, was present instead.

Witnesses claim the officer encouraged the woman to leave, complicating the investigation.

The officer denies the charges, asserting he did not instruct her to leave.
