The Swedish Parliamentary Ombudsman is set to scrutinize the Stockholm County Administrative Board following weeks of revelations about Governor Anna Kinberg Batra's recruitment practices.

After avoiding questions for weeks, Kinberg Batra admitted to hastily hiring friends for top positions, including a planning chief and a management consultant, at high salaries without a traditional recruitment process.

This has led to allegations of cronyism, with one of Sweden's leading experts in administrative law suggesting the actions could be considered corruption.

Kinberg Batra has initiated an internal investigation and faces further examination by the Ombudsman.

Despite the controversy, she remains confident in retaining her position as head of the agency.
