The latest PISA results have shown a significant drop in student performance, largely attributed to the increased use of mobile phones and social media among youth.
An OECD report highlights that excessive screen time is distracting students and affecting their academic results.
Both the government and the opposition are calling for a ban on mobile phones in schools to combat this issue.
"Children spend too much time in front of their screens," said Education Minister Lotta Edholm.
