Major Fire Erupts at Russian Natural Gas Terminal

Published: 2024-01-21

A significant fire has erupted at a natural gas terminal in the Russian port city of Ust-Luga, located by the Baltic Sea and near the Estonian border.

The facility, which processes liquid gas into jet fuel, heating oil, and other petroleum products, caught fire due to as yet unknown causes.

Reports of drone sightings in the area before the fire have not been confirmed.

The regional governor, Aleksandr Drozdenko, has confirmed that no one was injured in the fire, and the area's readiness level has been elevated.

Ust-Luga is an important Russian port for the export of gas and oil.
