A sudden lightning storm struck during a youth football practice on Lidingö, near Stockholm, injuring eight boys, three of them seriously.
Among the injured was the son of Ingus Grandbergs, who described the event as "completely crazy.
" The boys had sought shelter under a tree, which was then hit by lightning.
Grandbergs' son was hospitalized overnight but is now recovering, having regained feeling in his legs.
The storm caught meteorologists off guard, as no weather warning had been issued for the area.
Experts explain that such storms can develop rapidly in warm, humid conditions, making them difficult to predict.
The incident has left families in shock, with local authorities emphasizing the rarity of such events.
