In a diplomatic tit-for-tat, Iran has summoned Sweden's envoy following similar actions by Sweden.
The move comes after Sweden accused Iran of using criminal networks in Sweden to plan attacks on Israeli targets.
Sweden's security police confirmed the existence of such networks but did not specify which ones.
The escalation followed a Thursday announcement by Israel's Mossad implicating networks like Foxtrot and Rumba in the alleged plots.
Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström expressed deep concern over the allegations in a recent meeting with Iran's envoy.
