The much-anticipated storm, Hurricane Kirk, which was initially classified as a Category 4 hurricane, lost its intensity as it approached Europe, leading to a milder impact than expected in Sweden.
Despite early warnings from media and emergency services, including advice from Stockholm's fire department to work from home, the storm's effects were less severe.
Meteorologist Tora Tomasdottir from SVT described the situation as a typical autumn weather event rather than a hurricane.
However, the remnants of Kirk did bring significant rainfall to Stockholm, prompting the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) to issue warnings for heavy rain and potential flooding.
Although 15 millimeters of rain fell overnight, an additional 35 to 50 millimeters was expected by Friday morning.
The risk of flooding led to a yellow warning, which was expected to be lifted by the end of the week as conditions improved.
