A former radiologist and head of department at Akademiska Hospital was sentenced to four years in prison for accepting nearly five million kronor in bribes from suppliers.
The conviction follows an expose by Uppdrag granskning, which revealed a 200,000 kronor bribe from Canon Medical Systems that had bypassed the hospital's control mechanisms.
In response to the scandal, the hospital has initiated anti-corruption training for all employees.
Six additional individuals, suppliers involved in the bribery, were also convicted for severe bribery offenses.
The case underscores the need for stringent oversight in hospital procurement processes.
