The healthcare sector in regions across Sweden, including Kronoberg and Värmland, is currently experiencing disruptions due to an overtime ban initiated by the Swedish Association of Health Professionals (Vårdförbundet).
The ban has led to the closure of rehabilitation departments and necessitated the declaration of emergency work in numerous cases, as the union protests against what it perceives as misuse of mandatory emergency work by employers.
Vårdförbundet argues that emergency work should only be ordered when a patient's life is at risk, accusing some regions of violating this principle.
In response, the union threatens to escalate its actions with further strike notices if the situation doesn't change, highlighting a growing tension between healthcare workers and regional employers.
